our I.P.O.S Family

Our home and heart can be found in McLaren Vale, South Australia.

Our extended I.P.O.S family are all members of the greater McLaren Vale community and have been for up to three generations. Their collective knowledge of grape growing, wine making and the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula is an incredible resource.

Our winemaker is the very talented Rob Mack recipient of the 2018 ‘Australian Young Gun of Wine’ award along with numerous wine show trophies for his outstanding Aphelion brand. In 2019 Rob was invited to participate in the prestigious Len Evans tutorial whilst also judging in a number of major Australian Wine Shows. Rob brings great knowledge and passion to I.P.O.S and plays a key role in turning the fruits of our growers into wines that you will love to drink with friends and family.

Gary & Anthony Whaite are the second generation custodians of the ‘Springs Hill’ vineyard in Blewitt Springs, located in the higher and cooler northern region of McLaren Vale. The brothers Whaite grow outstanding dry grown Shiraz, Mataro & Bush Vine Grenache which form the backbone of the In Praise of Shadows wines.

Bernard & Wayne Smart are the second and third generation of the Smart family to have planted and tended bush vine Grenache in their iconic Clarendon vineyard which sits at the northern most and highest tip of the McLaren Vale region at 215 metres above sea level. The richly intense and flavour packed grenache grapes grown in heavier loam soil contribute to some outstanding bottles of grenache.

Joch & Louise Bosworth organically grow Touriga Nacional and Graciano (Tinta Miuda) in their Edgehill Vineyard among the Willunga foothills which we combine to produce our Iberian blend ‘Lusco Fusco’.
